    The University of Maine at Augusta women’s basketball team will begin their quest for a Yankee Small College Conference Championship on Thursday night when the second-seeded Moose take on Great Bay Community College at 9:00 p.m. at Central Maine Community College in the first round of the YSCC Elite Eight. The men’s basketball team enters the Elite Eight Tournament as the fourth seed, the highest ever for the Moose since the creation of the eight-team playoff format, and will take on the University of Maine at Machias at 9:00 on Friday evening.

    Senior Brandon Rogers set a new record for rebounds in a season Saturday afternoon when he again had a monster game, grabbing 24 boards in a 90-86 loss to the College of Saint Joseph’s of Vermont. The 6’8 center currently has 398 rebounds on the season, shattering the former record of 380 set by Moses Brathwaite in 2009-10, with at least three games remaining.
  • Chesley passes Cheers to become UMA All-Time Leading Scorer

    Senior Keith Chesley continued his assault on the UMA record books Saturday afternoon, when he passed Deon Cheers to become the all-time leading scorer in the history of UMA basketball; a history that goes back to 1965. The captain surpassed Cheers and went on to score a team-high 22 points in a tough 90-86 point loss to the College of Saint Joseph’s of Vermont, who are currently ranked fourth overall in the USCAA Division II.

    University of Maine at Augusta senior Keith Chesley has spent the past four seasons carving his name into the UMA record books and Thursday night, the captain entered into rare territory when he became only the second basketball player in the history of UMA to reach the 2,000 point plateau, helping the Moose to a crucial 100-81 victory over YSCC East Division rival U. Maine Machias.

    Gutsy is the only word to describe the effort of the University of Maine at Augusta men’s basketball team Tuesday night, despite ending up up on the wrong side of a 104-97 loss to Division I Fort Kent at the Civic Center. Fort Kent came into the game ranked 10th in the nation in USCAA DI while the Moose are currently tied for 15th place in Division II.
  • Rogers and Chesley join an elite club in win over Vermont Tech

    Senior captains Brandon Rogers and Keith Chesley each entered elite territory in the UMA records books, as both players recorded the 1,000th rebound in a dramatic 113-111 overtime victory over Vermont Tech . The two players become the second and third players in the history of UMA men’s basketball to reach the milestone, joining Deon Cheers who did so in 2009.

    The University of Maine at Augusta men’s basketball team rallied back from an eight point deficit in the second half to pick up a critical victory over Central Maine Community College, 80-75 Wednesday night in Yankee Small College Conference action. The victory avenges an earlier loss to the Mustangs this season and puts the Moose in fourth place in the YSCC East Division heading into the weekend.

    Junior Caleb McGuire scored a career-high 30 points Sunday afternoon to lead the University of Maine at Augusta men’s basketball team to a 90-71 win over Springfield Technical Community College in the second round of the NHTI-Holiday Inn New Year’s Men’s Basketball Classic.
