Moose Defeated in Conference Battle

UNITY, ME – The University of Maine at Augusta men's basketball team fell Sunday afternoon to St. Joseph's (VT) by a final score of 77-71. Keith Chesley notched a double-double in the contest, scoring 27 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.

The Moose took an 3-point lead into the half, leading 35-32. Brandon Rogers netted seven points and grabbed seven boards in the first half. Chesley scored 18 of his 27 in the first half. The Moose shot 40% from the field in the half while hold the Fighting Saints to 31%.

The Fighting Saints fought their way back into the contest, outscoring the Moose 45-36 in the second half. Taylor Wilbur got the hot hand in the half, going on an 8-0 run by himself, ending the game with 12 points. Caleb Mcguire and Garrett Alley each netted four points in the half. Alley finished the game with 12 points and a team-high four steals

Taylor Mannix finished the contest with four rebounds and two assists and a steal. Keith Priest recorded three assists while Robert Manix went 1-2 from the free throw line. Richard Brown grabbed a defensive rebound and dished out one assist.

Dre Anderson was the leading scorer for the Fighting Saints, netting 25 points. Kashean Alston grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds in the win.

The Moose return to the hardwood on January 29 when they travel to Central Maine Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
