Chesley Scores 34, Rogers Records Double-Double in Loss at SMCC

SOUTH PORTLAND, ME – The University of Maine at Augusta men's basketball team fell at the hands of Southern Maine Community College on Wednesday evening by a final score of 95-68.  Keith Chesley scored a game-high 34 points for the Moose, while Brandon Rogers tallied a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

Southern Maine Community College got out to an early lead and never looked back, using 13 points and seven rebounds from Tyheem Simpson in the first half to take a 46-30 lead into the locker room.  Chesley scored 20 points in the first half, while Rogers added six and Caleb Mcguire and Garrett Alley contributed two points each in the half.

In the second half, the Moose tried to close the gap, however the offense of the Seawolves proved to be too much to overcome.  Chesley scored 14 second half points, with Rogers adding 12 of his own.  Alley netted eight points while pulling down three rebounds in the second half as well.

Taylor Mannix finished with three assists and two rebounds, while Robert Manix contributed four points and Keith Priest added three rebounds off the bench in the game.

The Moose will be back in action this Saturday, January 17, when they travel to Pine Manor College.  Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
