Moose Surge By Rams

On the background there is a photo of a ram mascot and the words College above the ram, and Rams below the ram mascot. In the middle of the photo stands UMA men's basketball player wearing dark blue jersey. He has both hands in the air and is pushing the ball up to the net while defenders hands are blocking the shot, suffocating the ball. There are two opposing team members, one in front of UMA moose, and one behind. The person in the white jersey standing behind has his right arm stretched out towards the front of the ball above the player in dark blue jersey. The opposing opponent in white in front has his hands stretched up towards the ball. The three men are being competitive in both defense and offense.

UNITY, ME-- It was team basketball at it’s finest for the Moose on Tuesday night.  It was a must win conference game against Unity College and the men did just that.  The Moose and the Rams went back and forth for the first 11 minutes of the game until the Moose surged with their inside presence.  UMA was able to build a nine point lead going into halftime and keep that momentum going for the rest of the game.

The Moose were lead by junior co-captain Brandon Rogers (Turlock, CA) who pulled out another monster game with 31 points, three blocks, and 7 boards.  Garrett Alley (Union, ME), another captain for the Moose, surged with a career high 18 points.  His energy and strength gave the Moose great momentum through the early stages of the second half.  Keith Chesley (Clinton, ME), who scored his 1,000 point during the game, finished with 16 points and seven boards.

Taylor Wilbur’s (Maranacook, ME) perimeter shooting and sharp passing added 10 points and four assists for the Moose.  Robert Manix (Jackman, ME) had five points while Jordan Carson (Sidney, ME), Taylor Mannix (Portland, ME), and Caleb McGuire (Whitefield, ME) all added four points.  Robert Foss (Augusta, ME) gave intense defensive pressure helping the Moose on the front end of the press creating numerous turnovers.

The Moose went on to beat Unity College 95-82.  The Moose are back in action this weekend playing in the 2014 Ed Hockenbury Classic at Norwich University.  All games will be streamed live and can be seen at: http://nsnsports.net/colleges/norwich/
