Moose Boast Big Win

BANGOR, ME— The Moose came out with a bang against conference opponent Northern Maine Community College last night at Eastern Maine Community College who played neutral host to the two schools.  The Moose came out shooting 45% on the half, paced by Keith Chesley (Clinton, ME) who shot 10-16 (24 points) and pulled down 10 rebounds.  Freshman Justin Kervin (Winslow, ME) had two first half three’s and boosted the Moose with eight points.  The Moose lead NMCC 47-27 at halftime.

UMA improved upon its first half shooting percentage, ultimately shooting 53% in the second half, led by Junior Brandon Rogers (Turlock, CA) who exploded in the second half with 23 points shooting 9-12.  Freshman Taylor Wilbur (Manchester, ME) also came out with the hot hand in the second half hitting 5-7 including two from beyond the perimeter.

Co-captain Garrett Alley (Union, ME) added seven points and sophomore Caleb McGuire (Whitefield, ME) pitched in four points.  Both Taylor Mannix  (Portland, ME) and Jordan Carson (Sidney, ME) added two points.  The men in blue also outrebounded their opponent 63-36 on the game and boasted 27 assists.

The Moose went on to seal the win 112-65.  Chesley ended with a career high of 41 points.  UMA is now 1-1 in YSCC conference action.  They travel to Castine, ME on Friday to take on Maine Maritime Academy.
