NORTHFIELD, Vt. - University of Maine at Augusta sophomore Arreonte Lee (San Antonio, Tex.) scored 23 points and dished out 12 assists Saturday night on her way to receiving the All-Tournament nod, as UMA fell to Bates 104-83 in the consolation game of the 2013 Ed Hockenbury Classic at Norwich University.
In the first half, Bates powered to 56-38 halftime lead on the strength of 51.2 percent field goal shooting. The Moose took the early lead on a pair of three-pointers by Lee (San Antonio, Texas) and Jennifer Lola (Monmouth, Maine), but Bates would power back and tie the score at 8-8 with 16:07 to play. The Bobcats would quickly sprint to a nine-point lead, but the Moose made one final attack and came within a basket of tying the score at the 8:27 mark.
The second half continued in similar fashion, as Bates connected on 51.1 percent of field goals, led by Kelly's 8-13 second-half shooting. With her final basket of the half at 8:32, Kelly set a new Bates program record for points in a game with 42. The basket gave the Bobcats a 90-64 lead.
UMA connected on 49.2 percent of field goals over the 40 minutes of action, including a 50 percent performance (15-30) in the second half.
