Emily Billings Commits to UMA Basketball

AUGUSTA, ME – UMA basketball is excited to announce that former Mountain Valley guard Emily Billings has committed to the Moose for the 2017/2018 season.

Billings is a multi-talented athlete lettering in both basketball and track all 4 years of high school. She has gone to the state championship in track all 4 years competing in 8 different track events.

When asked why she chose UMA Billings said, " I've been to many of the Moose basketball games and really enjoyed the team atmosphere. UMA will allow me to pursue a career as a veterinarian while also being affordable and close to home.”

Billings will bring speed and a tenacious style of defensive play to the Moose. Her work ethic and positive attitude will be an asset as the Moose look to make the trip back to the National Tournament in 2018.

Coach Jennifer Laney is excited to have Emily joining the Moose next season saying, "Emily’s athletic nature and speed will add to the fast pace style basketball we look to bring to the court next season. Emily will make an impact on both ends of the court and her positive attitude will complement our team dynamic.”

When asked about her experience with the team so far Emily said, “The team has already been so nice! Players have already reached out looking to get together to hang out or workout. The coach sounds wonderful and outgoing. I can't wait to play with them!”
