AUGUSTA, ME – UMA basketball is excited to announce that Cassidy Lessner has committed to the Moose for the 2018/2019 season.

Lessner is a multi-talented athlete lettering in both basketball and soccer while at Highview Christian Academy. She was the captain of the basketball team both her junior and senior year and was her team's offensive MVP her junior year.

When asked why she chose UMA Lessner said, "UMA is a perfect choice for me because it is generally pretty close to home and coming from a small high school, a graduating class of 12, it is essential for me to have a small college environment. I am so thrilled to be starting this journey!”

Lessner will bring further depth to the Moose as she works to develop her skill set. Her work ethic and dedication will be an asset for the Moose. 

Coach Jennifer Laney is excited to have Cassidy joining the Moose next year, “We are thrilled to have Cassidy joining our Moose family. She plays with an incredible energy and strength. Cassidy has a great work ethic and a strong passion for the game of basketball. She will be a great fit within our team dynamic.”

When asked about her experience with the team so far Cassidy said, “My experience with the team has been wonderful so far. I went on a tour with Coach Laney in August and ever since then we have been building a relationship. I can tell she is compassionate and dedicated to her team and that is promising to see. While on my tour in August, Coach Ficker sat with me and broke down everything in the admission process. She made this whole process much easier. I have also attended multiple UMA games and each time many of the girls on the team have welcomed me and made me feel like I am part of the family.”
