Moose Struggle Against Knights

CONCORD, NH—The University of Maine at Augusta men's basketball team (4-6) traveled to New Hampshire over the weekend to play in the NHTI Holiday Inn New Year's Classic. The Moose opened tournament play against the top ranked and defending USCAA National Champions, Berkeley College Knights (10-1).

UMA got off to a quick start leading 5-0 and then 7-6 in the opening minutes of the game. However, the Knights offense then began firing on all cylinders and progressively built a commanding lead throughout the remainder of the first half.

Berkeley picked up where they left off in the first half continuing to pull away from the Moose eventually extending their lead and eventually winning 111-69. Despite the loss for the Moose, it was Israel Brown pacing his squad, as he tied for the game-high in points with 19. He also added 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

Dustin Simpson-Bragg finalized his evening with 19 points and eight rebounds, and Jordon Holmes contributed nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Quinn Mitchell II contributed 16 points 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 takeaways.

The Moose face Springfield Technical Community College at 10AM on Sunday to close out the NHTI Holiday Inn New Year's Classic.
