Roddy Shoots a 77; Ties for First Place

VASSALBORO, ME It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon (Sept. 27) as the Moose hosted their second home match at Natanis Golf Course. This was the fourth match of the season for UMA and proved to be their best overall team performance as well as a season PR for four of the Moose. This week they matched up against Yankee Small College Conference opponents Great Bay Community College (GBCC), NHTI, Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC), and Southern Maine Community College (SMCC).  UMA came in third with an overall score of 343.  NHTI took first with a team score of 326.  EMCC wasn’t far behind shooting a 335 and SMCC followed with a 371.

It was senior Jake Roddy (Belgrade, ME) with a season best 77 who tied Grayson Waterman of SMCC and Shawn Francoeur of EMCC.  The three top scorers went into a shootout and Jake Roddy was outshot on the second hole.

Teammate Robert Greig (Augusta, ME) also had a great day on Tomahawk course shooting a season best 79.  The Moose were followed up with strong performances by Keith Ross (Winthrop, ME) with a 92, Keith Priest (Augusta, ME) who shot a 95 on the day, senior Josh Smith (Rome, ME) with a score of 102.  Both Jesse Walker (Lisbon Falls, ME) and India Pickett (Monmouth, ME) shot PR’s; Walker with a 97 and Pickett with a 119.

UMA will head up to Bangor next week as EMCC hosts at Penobscot Valley Golf Course on October 4th.   GO MOOSE!
