Moose Come Up Short Against Mariners

CASTINE, ME-- The Moose traveled to Castine on Friday night to take on NCAA Division III opponent Maine Maritime Academy.   The Moose had a tough start to the game when open perimeter shots were not falling.   The Mariner’s took advantage of the home court rims and hit 7 first half three’s.  UMA’s Taylor Wilbur (Manchester, ME) was able to knock down one for UMA and all their other points came from inside the paint and on the line.  UMA went into halftime down by 15; being outscored 50-35.

Brandon Rogers (Turlock, CA) and Keith Chesley (Clinton, ME) both warmed up in the second half for the Moose scoring a combined 25 second half points.  The Moose ultimately could not come back from the deficit of the first half and finished with a 103-73 loss to the Mariners of Maine Maritime Academy. 

Rogers finished the game with a double-double boasting 25 points and 11 rebounds.  He also had six assists and three steals.  Chelsey also earned himself a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Freshman Taylor Wilbur surged with 14 points and six assists, while Garrett Alley (Union, ME) put up 12 points and nine rebounds.  Caleb McGuire (Whitefield, ME) had two points from the line for the Moose while Jordan Carson (Sidney, ME) added one.

The Moose are back in action on Tuesday night, November 25th against Southern Maine Community College.  The Moose will also be honoring faculty members during the break between games.  All UMA staff and faculty get in to the game for free.  Women tip off at 6:00 p.m. and the men will follow at 8:00 p.m.
