CONCORD, NH-- In the second game of the Edwards Jones “Tap-off” classic, the Moose took on Mass Bay Community College. Even after coming off of a late game on Friday night, the Moose were prepped and ready for tip off at 2:00p.m. The Moose were missing captain, Brandon Rogers who had to travel home for a family event. The Moose weren’t going to let anything slow them down this game. Co-captain Keith Chesley (Clinton, ME) set fire to the court setting the pace with 31 points and 11 boards. Freshman Taylor Wilbur (Manchester, ME) followed suit with an impressive five first half three’s. Wilbur finished with 25 points and six assists.
Mass Bay Community College also came out with some sharp shooting of their own finishing the first half at 61% and leading the Moose 55-43. “We came out and took an early lead until Mass Bay became red hot from the arch extinguishing our first half momentum,” recalls Head Coach Jim Ford. “Once again, halftime adjustments led to a more consistent effort of outscoring Mass Bay, but still falling short of victory. Overall the NHTI tourney provided outstanding competition that will help us step it up in the YSCC.
Mass Bay held off the Moose 87-78 at the final buzzer. Freshman Jordan Carson (Sidney, ME) had seven points, Caleb McGuire (Whitefield, ME) added four points, and Justin Kervin (Winslow, ME) pitched in three points.
Keith Chesley and Taylor Wilbur were both named to the Edward Jones “Tap-off” Classic All-Tournament Team.
The Moose continue their season with a matchup against CMCC on Wednesday, November 12th at the Augusta Civic Center at 8:00p.m. GO MOOSE!
