CONCORD, NH—On Friday, November 7th the men tipped off their regular season against USCAA Division I powerhouse Vaughn College. The Moose had a slow start to the game and icy shooting at 25% while Vaughn College came out of the starting blocks on fire, shooting 62% in the first. “Our cold tip off falling behind 25-5 to a strong Vaughn College team made it a difficult uphill battle,” Coach Jim Ford reflects on the game. “Half time adjustments showed our ability to bounce back and outscore Vaughn in the second half.” The Moose ultimately could not overcome the deficit from the first half and lost their first game 91-70. However, they did outscore Vaughn by three points in the second half.
After halftime adjustments, the Moose came out on fire; led by junior forward, Brandon Rogers (Turlock, CA) who finished with 23 points and eight boards. Freshman guard, Taylor Wilbur (Manchester, ME), finished his first collegiate game with 17 points and four steals. Caleb McGuire (Whitefield, ME) gave the moose a surge with 13 points and eight rebounds.
Also pitching in for the Moose was Co-captain Keith Chesley (Clinton, ME) with seven points and nine boards. Jordan Carson (Sidney, ME) had five points, while Garrett Alley (Union, ME) pitched in three points, and freshman Justin Kervin (Winslow, ME) rounded out for the Moose with two points.
