Carey named 14th Head Men's Basketball Coach in Program History
The University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Steve Carey as the new Head Coach for the Men's Basketball program.

Coach Carey brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for the game. Most recently, he served as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach and Head Recruiter at Central Maine Community College. His familiarity with the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) and proven track record in recruitment will be major assets to the continued growth and competitiveness of the UMA men's basketball program.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Coach Carey has made a significant impact in the AAU basketball community. He has served as the Director of Southern Maine Sting, a respected travel club program based in the Portland and Auburn areas. He has also coached with Blue Wave Basketball and YES!Basketball programs, with his teams earning numerous championships throughout New England.

His previous roles include serving as a Varsity Assistant Coach and Junior Varsity Head Coach at Saint Dominic Academy in Auburn, Maine.

Beyond the court, Coach Carey is a practicing attorney specializing in juvenile defense and guardian ad litem work throughout Southern Maine. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Maine School of Law and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and sociology from Stonehill College in Massachusetts.

Coach Carey resides in Androscoggin County with his wife and their two sons.
