BANGOR, ME – UMA women's cross country opened their season at the Husson Harrier 5K at Saxl Park in Bangor on Saturday. Freshman  Avenie Lauseig lead the Moose in her first race as a Moose running 23:59.0. Lauseig was followed by freshman Dulce Moguel (27:259) and sophomore Hunter Hoague.

Coach Gilpatrick had this to say about the first race of the season: "The women performed well and we now have an idea of where we are and what needs to be done to help us improve as the season progresses. The course was muddy which always slows things down so each of the women are faster than this initial race and I am excited for the next two weeks of training before racing on our home course."

The Moose have the next two weeks to train before hosting the UMA Invitational 5K on their home course in Augusta on September 28th.
