Coleman takes over the helm of the women’s basketball program at UMA after having previously served as the Director of Basketball Operations for the University of Maine as well as the Orono High School boys’ basketball coach.  He has immersed himself as a successful coach in the local sports scene in the Greater Bangor area. As the head coach at Orono from 2011-2018, Coleman led the Red Riots to three regional finals appearances over seven seasons.  

As an AAU coach, Coleman led his teams to two National championships.  His AAU success also includes five state championships; three of which were in Maine. He also coaches AAU basketball in Indiana and South Carolina.  Coleman was named Coach of the Year on three different occasions. 

In the past year with Coleman’s family growing he stepped away from his role at UMaine and joined the varsity girls basketball staff at Hermon High school where they won the Northern Maine Championship and finished as state runner-up.

Coleman also coached football at various levels, serving as the offensive coordinator of the JV team at Husson University and as the quarterbacks coach for their varsity team in the 2011 season. At Orono high school, he had served as the offensive coordinator.
