Moose Battle to Overtime Win Against Thomas College

AUGUSTA, MAINE – UMA women's basketball team walked away with an impressive overtime victory at Thomas College Tuesday night after sophomore Sidney Moore drained 2 free throws in the final seconds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Moose were in control offensively in the first quarter with a 3 pointer from senior Caitlin LaFountain to put UMA up 14-8. This trend continued into the second quarter as Sidney Moore and Mallory Chamberlain shot 100% from behind the arch combining for 9 points. The Terroirs had shooting difficulty in the first half helping the Moose go up 33-18 at the half.

Thomas came out shooting in the 3rd and chipped away at UMA's lead leaving the game tied going into the 4th 48-48. The Terriers went up by 9 in the opening minutes of the 4th but the Moose remained composed and fought back as the final minutes of regular play counted down. LaFountain and Moore combined for 13 critical points in the 4th helping make it a one possession game. With 1 second left Emily Billings was fouled sending her to the line where she would hit her first free throw to tie the game 67-67 sending it to overtime.

During the few remaining seconds of overtime the Moose would be sent to the line where Moore would hit both of her shots which would help UMA clinch the victory 77-75.
