Moose move on to YSCC semifinals

SOUTH PORTLAND, ME – The 4th seeded UMA women's basketball team opened the YSCC Elite 8 Basketball tournament facing 5th seeded College of St. Joseph on Thursday afternoon.

 

The Moose entered the tournament ready to play, shooting 49.2% from the field and 45.8% from 3-point land.

 

The Moose opened the first quarter with a 14-8 lead but it wasn't until Dominique Lewis opened the second quarter with a trey starting a 12 point run. In the final remaining 2 seconds of the first half Courtney Dunton was able to sneak in a layup putting the Moose up 39-24 heading into the locker room.

 

Throughout the 3rd and 4th quarters the Moose continued to play inspiring basketball, seeing Jamie Plummer hit from behind the arc on 3 consecutive possessions. Plummer would end the game with 27 points and 8 rebounds.

 

When the Moose were not connecting from outside sophomore Caitlin LaFountain was driving inside contributing 16 points and 9 rebounds. Morgan Card and Courtney Dunton both had 12 points and 8 rebounds a piece.

 

The Moose continue on to the semifinals facing CMCC on Saturday February 18th at noon.
