Women take down top10 ranked CSJ

UNITY, ME—The UMA women's basketball team traveled to Unity to host conference opponentCollege of St. Joseph (CSJ) Sunday afternoon.  This match up was between two USCAA top 10 ranked schools; CSJ sitting at the 10th spot, and UMA at the 8th.   

The Moose used the first quarter to find their rhythm offensively however once found they controlled the ball on both sides of play going into the half leading 27-17.  The defensive pressure lead by Sophmore, Lindsey Clark, set the tone for the Moose, holding CSJ to 7 and 10 points in the first two quarters, respectively.
Coming out with a renewed fire out of halftime, the third quarter proved to be the most productive for the Moose putting up 25 points to CJS's 16.  The Moose were sparked by Freshman Dominique Lewis from beyond the arc, as well as the inside threats of Card, Plummer, and LaFountain.  Co-captain, Carmen Bragg lit up the boards pulling in 10 rebounds, most in the third.  
Production was spread across the board with 4 of the starters contributing 9 or more points apiece. Jamie Plummer had a team high of 16 points and 14 rebounds. The Moose also saw significant production from recent transfer Dominique Lewis who netted 15 points all from the 3 point line as well as contributing 7 rebounds.
Deija Black was the high scorer for CSJ with 16 points followed by NaKeeya Goodman-Boodie with 15.  The Moose would go on to take the conference win; 64-46 over CSJ. 
The Moose travel to South Portland on January 25, 2017 to take on conference opponent SMCC at6PM.
