Women’s basketball stays undefeated in conference play

AUGUSTA, Maine - The University of Maine at Augusta women's basketball team remains undefeated after cruising to an 82-33 win over the University of Maine at Machias Thursday night at the Augusta Civic Center. The Moose are now 19-6 overall and 11-0 in the conference, standing alone atop the YSCC East Division with only three games remaining.

Saturday will prove the toughest of the season for head coach Jennifer Laney's team, as the Moose take on the the YSCC West Division leading College of Saint Joseph's who are also 11-0 in the conference. 

It was once again a very balanced attack for UMA, who was led by double-double performances from junior Jamie Plummer (Richmond, Maine), Caitlin LaFountain (Topsham, Maine), and Morgan Card (Ellsworth, Maine). Plummer scored a game-high 17 points and 12 rebounds, LaFountain netted 16 points and 11 boards and Card scored ten points to go along with her 11 rebounds. Senior Darby Toth (Northport, Fla.) scored 16 points while dishing out seven assists for UMA.

Sophomore Carmen Bragg was 4-6 from the floor for nine points and five assists and both Emily Karter (Waterville, Maine) and Lindsey Clark (Cornish, N.H.) came off of the bench to score seven points in the win. 

UMA returns to action Saturday afternoon against the Saints before returning to the Augusta Civic Center for the final home game of the season Tuesday night when the team hosts NHTI. The women play the nightcap on senior night, beginning at 7:30. Prior to the game seniors Toth and Karter will be recognized, along with members of the men's team.
