Women’s Basketball team remains undefeated in YSCC

CONCORD, N.H. - The University of Maine at Augusta women's basketball team pushed their winning streak to four games Tuesday night with a 42-37 victory over West Division leaders NHTI in Yankee Small College Conference action.

With the win, the Moose (10-3, 5-0) remain several games in front of second place opponents Southern Maine Community College and Central Maine Community College, both of whom UMA has already played once.

UMA was led by senior Darby Toth (North Port, Fla) who scored 18 points and was the lone player in double-digits for head coach Jennifer Laney's team. Neither team shot well from the floor in the low scoring affair, with UMA carrying the edge at 24.6% to 24.1% for the Lynx.

The Moose won the battle of the boards, grabbing 47 boards to 41 for NHTI. Freshman Caitlin LaFountain (Topsham, Maine) led the way with 11 rebounds while Junior Jamie Plummer (Richmond, Maine) pulled down 10 boards. The duo of Plummer and LaFountain are ranked second and third, respectively, in the YSCC in rebounding, as Plummer is averaging 11.0 rebounds per game and LaFountain is right behind her with 10.5

UMA returns to action on Thursday evening when the team travels to NCAA Division III Wheaton College for a 7:00 p.m. showdown. The next home game is Monday evening, which is also Faculty Appreciation night, with the women's game beginning at 5:30.
