AUGUSTA, Maine - The University of Maine at Augusta women's basketball team notched another big win Tuesday night as the Moose defeated Southern Maine Community College 74-50 in Yankee College Conference action. UMA (8-3, 4-0 YSCC) scored 16 points off of SMCC turnovers to hand the Seawolves (7-2, 2-1 YSCC) their first conference loss on the young season.

After edging SMCC 17-13 in the opening quarter, UMA erupted for 30 points in the second quarter, led by freshman Caitlin LaFountain (Topsham, Maine) who was a perfect five-for-five from the field, scoring 11 of her 17 points to help her team to a 47-24 lead at the half. LaFountain was also a monster on the boards for UMA, pulling down a season-high 16 rebounds. Junior Jamie Plummer (Richmond, Maine) led the Moose with 17 rebounds and scored seven points.

Senior Darby Toth (North Port, Fla.) led UMA with 19 points on 8-18 shooting from the floor and dished out eight assists while Carmen Bragg (Washburn, Maine) was also in double-digits with 11 points. Freshman Lindsay Clark was 4-6 with nine points off the bench for head coach Jennifer Laney's team.

The win moves UMA to the number one spot in the YSCC East Division, in front of SMCC and CMCC, who the Moose defeated last week. The team returns to action next Monday night at the Augusta Civic Center, hosting non-conference opponent the University of Maine at Presque Isle at 5:30.
