Women’s basketball uses balanced attack in win

AUGUSTA, Maine - The University of Maine at Augusta women's basketball team used a very balanced attack Monday night to defeat Great Bay Community College 82-30 Monday night in Yankee Small College Conference action. The win is the third in five days for the Lady Moose, who improved to 5-2 on the season and 2-0 in conference action.

UMA was led by freshman Caitlin LaFountain (Topsham, Maine) who turned in a double-double performance with team-highs in rebounds and points, scoring 18 points and grabbing a season-best 14 boards in the victory. Junior Jamie Plummer (Richmond, Maine) scored 16 points and also grabbed 14 rebounds while senior Darby Toth (North Port, Fla.) scored 13 points and sophomore Carmen Bragg (Washburn, Maine) netted 12 points while dishing out seven assists. Freshman Lindsay Clark (Cornish, N.H.) came off of the bench to score 12 points.

Markey Flewelling was the high-scorer for Great Bay with 12 points.

UMA returns to action on Thursday night when the team travels to the University of Maine at Machias for conference play.
