LaFountain scores 16 points in Lady Moose victory

CONCORD, N.H. - Freshman Caitlyn LaFountain scored 16 points as the University of Maine at Augusta cruised to a 61-16 win over Quinsigamond Community College in the second round of the Edward Jones Women's Tap-Off Classic hosted by NHTI Sunday morning. 

LaFountain (Topsham, Maine) also recorded the first double-double of her young career by grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds for UMA, who improves to 2-1 on the season. Junior Jamie Plummer (Richmond, Maine) was also in double-digits, with 11 points and four steals while netting six boards and three blocks. Carmen Bragg (Washburn, Maine) and Darby Toth (Northport, Fla.) each scored nine points for the Moose. Both dished out seven assists and UMA as a team handed out a season-high 19 assists. 

UMA shot 34.2% from the field, compared to just 17% shooting for a struggling Quinsigamond (0-2) offense. Cassandra Boddie and Mercy Frinpong each scored six points for Quinsigamond. 

The Lady Moose host Central Maine Community College Thursday evening for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off at the Augusta Civic Center.
