AUBURN, Maine - Junior Jamie Plummer scored 20 points and freshmen Caitlin LaFountain and Lindsey Clark each hit double-digits, but it wasn't enough as the University of Maine at Augusta women's basketball team fell 65-57, to St. Thomas College of Canada at the 2015 CANAM Tournament hosted by Central Maine Community College.

UMA (0-1) rallied from as many as 12 points down to tie the game in the fourth before St. Thomas (1-0) pulled away in the last five minutes for the win.

The Tommies jumped out to an early 22-13 at the end of the first quarter, as all women's college basketball games move to the four quarter format for the 2015-16 season. But the Lady Moose answered by out-scoring St. Thomas 17-12 in the second quarter; including four consecutive free throws from Plummer (Richmond, Maine)  in the last two minutes to bring her team to within four headed into the locker room.

The Tommies reeled off a 10-2 run in the first five minutes of the third, leaving head coach Jennifer Laney's team trailing by double-digits at 44-32. But UMA closed out the third with 12 unanswered points, high-lighted by six points from LaFountain (Topsham, Maine) to pull within two at the start of the fourth. The Lady Moose tied the game with 9:29 remaining in regulation on a layup from Plummer, but the Tommies responded with an 11-2 stretch to pull away with the win.

Plummer was 11-14 from the free throw line with 20 points, while also recording four blocks and pulling down a team-high nine rebounds. LaFountain was 6-9 from the floor in her first game, while Clark (Cornish, N.H.) came off the bench to score 11 points. Sophomore Morgan Card (Ellsworth, Maine) scored eight points and tied for the team lead in rebounds with nine.

The Lady Moose return to regular season play on November 7, when the team travels to NHTI for the Edward Jones Tap-Off Classic.
