Bragg Scores 25 in Loss to Pine Manor

CHESTNUT HILL, MA – The University of Maine at Augusta women's basketball team fell Saturday afternoon to Pine Manor College by a final score of 81-69.  Carmen Bragg scored 25 points in the loss, tying a school record with seven three-pointers made in the game.

The Moose got out to an early lead in the game, however Pine Manor stormed right back to take a lead of their own.  After lots of back-and-forth action, the Gators grasped the lead for good with 6:50 to play in the first, after going on a 14-0 run.  Jamie Plummer led the Moose in the first half, scoring 10 points, while Kylie Kemp pulled in seven rebounds in the half.

Coming out of the locker room trailing 45-31, the Moose did their best to mount a comeback.  UMA outscored the Gators 38-36 in the half, however that would not be enough to pull out a victory.  Bragg scored 16 of her 25 points in the second half, while Jessica St. Amand scored 11 of her 13 in the half.  Plummer added five points and seven rebounds in the half, giving her a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Kemp and Kori Coro each added eight points in the game, while Kemp pulled down 16 rebounds in the loss.  Erica Fredrick-Rock added two rebounds in her seven minutes of play.

Maria Vaughan led Pine Manor with 20 points and seven steals, while Natasia Franklin added 17 points and 8 rebounds for the Gators.

The Moose will be back in action on Satuday, January 24, when the travel to Hampshire College.  Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
