UNIONTOWN, Pennsylvania – Seven members of the University of Maine at Augusta men's and women's basketball teams were recognized with United States Collegiate Athletic Association national awards Tuesday night at the annual USCAA banquet.
Sophomore Arreonte Lee (San Antonio, Tex.) led the way with her second consecutive USCAA First Team All-American selection, while freshman Jamie Plummer (Richmond, Maine) and junior Jennifer Lola (Monmouth, Maine) were named as honorable mention selections.
Junior Brandon Rogers (Turlock, Ca.) was the lone male selection for UMA, receiving an honorable mention nod as well.
Sophomores Kim Carter (Princeton, Maine) and Angelica Bulgin (Lisbon, Maine) were both named to the Academic All-American team, as well as sophomore men's basketball player Keith Chesley (Clinton, Maine).
Lee averaged 20.8 point per game this year, ranking her second in the Yankee Small College Conference and fifth overall in the nation in division II women's basketball. The guard also averaged 10.7 rebounds per game, ranking her sixth overall in the YSCC.
Plummer had an outstanding freshman campaign for the Moose, ranking third in scoring in the YSCC with 19.4 per game, and cracking the top five in rebounding with an even 11 boards per contest. Plummer also ranked number one in blocks with 2.7 a game and was fifth in the nation in rejections.
Lola received her second honorable mention award for basketball, having received the honor her freshman year as well. The guard finished fifth in the conference in scoring with 18.4 points per game was third in three-point percentage.
Rogers led both the YSCC and both USCAA Division I and II in rebounding with 12.3 per game, and he also broke the top five in scoring for the conference with 19 points per outing. He was third in the conference in blocks, with 1.1 per game.
