Lee named USCAA Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -  University of Maine at Augusta Sophomore Arreonte Lee (San Antonio, Tex.) was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Division II Player of the Week on Tuesday for her standout performance last week.

Lee guided the Moose to a 1-1 record last week, averaging double-digit numbers in points (19ppg), rebounds (12pg) and assists (10pg). The 5'10 guard also averaged 4.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game.
"Arreonte's versatility as a basketball player is really beginning to shine through," said UMA Head Coach Jennifer Laney.  "She has proven time and time again that she can score, although this season she is showing more than ever that she can create opportunities offensively and hit the boards on both ends.  Her speed and agility help set the pace of our games."
Lee, enrolled in the Justice Studies program at UMA, has turned in triple double performances in three of the last four games, and is currently leading the YSCC in assists per game (6.9) and is ranked in the top five in points (18.7) , rebounds (11.2), and steals (3.4).

Both Lee and the Lady Moose have picked the right time to get hot, as UMA heads into the last two weeks of the season sitting in third place in the YSCC East Division. Playoffs begin February 20th and will be hosted at Southern Maine Community College in Portland.

"Our team is competing at the strongest level so far this season," said Laney. "They continue to capitalize on each other's strengths to push each other."

The Moose return to action on Friday when they host Hampshire College in Portland at SMCC.
