Three players net double-doubles in Moose win

AUGUSTA, Maine – Four players hit double-digits Wednesday night as the University of Maine at Augusta women's basketball team up-ended Unity College 71-28 in Yankee Small College Conference action. The win improves the Moose to 9-8 overall and 6-4 in the YSCC.

UMA sophomore Arreonte Lee (San Antonio, Tex.) netted her third triple-double in the last four games, turning in game-highs in points (20), assists (16) and rebounds (15).  Freshman Jamie Plummer (Richmond, Maine) scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while senior Haley Madore (Winslow, Maine) poured in 11 points and 11 boards. Junior guard Jennifer Lola (Monmouth, Maine) was also in double-digits for the Moose, scoring 17 points.

The Moose never trailed in this game, and tied only once, as each team traded buckets in the opening minute. The Rams closed the gap to one on a Raeann Bond layup early in the first half, but UMA exploded on a 16-5 run, highlighted by six points from Lee. UMA was on cruise control from that point forward, closing out the half with a 42-17 advantage.Unity's Ashley Moeller (Hobart, NY) led the Rams with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

UMA shot 43 percent from the field to Unity's 16 percent, and scored 23 points off of Ram turnovers in securing this win. The Moose have a week off before resuming conference play when they take on Hampshire College at Southern Maine Community College Friday, January 31st at Southern Maine Community College.
