Lola named USCAA and YSCC Player of the Week

AUGUSTA, Maine -  University of Maine at Augusta junior basketball player Jennifer Lola (Monmouth, Maine) racked up the honors on Tuesday, as she was named player of the week both nationally, by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) as well as the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC).

The 5'9 guard had a phenomenal week, as she entered the 1,000 point club for UMA last Tuesday in a crucial 82-60 win over the University of Maine at Machias.  Lola netted 20 points in the conference win, and appropriately broke the milestone with a three-pointer, for which she holds the record at UMA.

Lola also had the hot hand in Thursday's contest against New Hampshire Technical Institute, scoring a game-high 31 points in the 81-71 win, including seven three pointers, just one shy of her own record.

"1,000 points is a significant milestone," said head coach Jennifer Laney. "She really stepped up for us this week in two big conference wins."

Lola is currently ranked second in the YSCC in points (22.9 pg) and fourth in three point percentage (38.8).  Nationally, she is ranked fourth in the country in scoring. UMA has a break until January 11th, when the team resumes play against Berkeley college of New York at NHTI.
