University of Maine Augusta is pleased to welcome Gabe Carey as an Assistant Coach for the Men’s Basketball Program.

Gabe was a high school standout basketball player at St. Dominic’s Academy in Auburn, Maine. He was a two-time Western Maine All-Conference player and two-time Sun Journal All-Region player. As a senior, Gabe was named a Western Maine Conference Senior All-Star and a Maine McDonald’s All-Star. During high school Gabe also played AAU travel basketball with Southern Maine Sting Basketball and Blue Wave
Basketball.

Gabe went on to play college basketball at the University of Maine Presque Isle and Central Maine Community College before serving for two years as a Student Manager for the University of Maine Men’s Basketball Program. In additional to normal manager responsibilities, Gabe assisted the coaching staff with drafting scouting reports, compiled transfer portal analysis, and recruiting efforts.

Gabe has coached middle school and high school travel basketball teams through Southern Maine Sting Basketball and has served as Junior Varsity Summer League Coach at St. Dominic’s Academy. For the past two years, Gabe has assisted the coaches at Central Maine Community College with opponent scouting reports, player development, and recruiting efforts.
