Moose Come Up Short Against Mustangs

AUGUSTA, ME – UMA men's basketball dropped the home opener in the Civic Center Tuesday night against the CMCC Mustangs (4-1).

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Moose started the first half with a strong 17-6 run before CMCC found their footing in the Civic Center. The Moose held onto a lead through the first half that the Mustangs continued to chip away at leaving the Moose up 32-31 at the end of the half.

Throughout the 2nd half of the game it was a back and forth contest with the Mustangs taking the lead and the Moose responding to tie things back up. It was not until the last 5 minutes of the game when CMCC's Saikwon Williams made 3 critical offensive buckets in a row to open the Mustangs lead up 79-69. The Moose pulled within 3 after a 3-pt. hit by senior Devon Begin but with 3 seconds remaining Mark MacDonald from CMCC hit both free throws to put the Mustangs up 87-83.
