UMF Too Much For the Moose On The Road

FARMINGTON, ME – The UMA men's basketball team traveled to the University of Maine Farmington (9-4) to play the Beavers who are currently ranked first in the North Atlantic Conference (6-0).

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Moose faced an uphill battle from the start facing a skilled Farmington team with considerable depth on their bench. The game stayed relatively close in the opening minutes with the Moose taking their sole lead of the game off of a jumper from senior captain Noah Thompson putting the Moose up 12-10 five minutes into the game. The Beavers quickly took back control and started working on opening their lead in the first half which would end with UMF up 52-32.

It was more of the same throughout the second half as UMaine Farmington team continued to pull away with the Moose doing what they could to slow down the Beavers offense. The University of Maine Farmington would go on to win 104-64.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Moose shot 35.7% from the floor (25-70), 27% from three-point land and 50% at the charity stripe with 41 rebounds, 11 assists, five steals, three blocks and forced 12 turnovers.
  • Dustin Simpson-Bragg led the Moose in points with 17 on 7-18 shooting from the floor with 11 rebounds, one assist, and one steal
  • Alex La Fountain added 16 points with 13 rebounds, one assist and two steals.
  • Noah Thompson added 11 points with three rebounds, three assists, and one steal.

The Moose head to Vermont to face Green Mountain College Friday January 18th for a 4PM game against the Eagles.
