Thompson Reaches Milestone, Simpson-Bragg Drops 43, Moose Win In OT

AUBURN, MAINE – The UMA men's basketball team played their way to their 3rd conference victory this week again Paul Smiths College Sunday afternoon, 82-79.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After connecting for 32 points on Saturday at Hampshire College, senior Captain Noah Thompson had 14 points to go before hitting his 1,000th career point as a Moose. The Moose knew it would be a close game on paper against the Paul Smith College Bobcats after a long day on the road to Hampshire College where the Moose won 104-54.

Dustin Simpson-Bragg and Noah Thompson had big first halves combining for 29 points with the first half ending with the Moose going up 42-38 after a made layup by Simpson-Bragg in the final seconds.

In the second half both teams remained close enough to warrant an overtime with regular play ending tied 72-72. The Moose went into the overtime energized and focused after Thompson secured his 1,000th career point at UMA in the remaining minutes of the game. Several big defensive rebounds by Patrick Robinson were critical in the Moose keeping possession of the ball during the last several drives. Dustin Simpson-Bragg put the Moose up 80-79 off of a three with 44 seconds left and drove home the win making his two free throws with 15 seconds remaining.
