Bengals Slip Past Moose In Final Seconds

UNITY, MAINE – UMA men's basketball hosted the University of Maine Fort Kent at Unity College Wednesday night in what would be a game that came down to the final possession.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Israel Brown was out for the Moose leaving senior Noah Thompson in charge of moving the offense down the court. Fort Kent got off to a strong 11-4 start until the Moose settled in and pulled back within 2-points off of a free throw from Alex LaFountain. UMFK kept a small lead until the Moose tied and then went up by three with 5 minutes remaining in the first half and would remain up 43-41 going into the locker room.

The Bengals took a small lead back from the Moose in the second half off of a 3-pointer made by Chance Cole. The second half played out very similar to the first half with UMFK holding a marginal lead until the final seconds of the game when a huge defensive rebound from Nate Martin and a layup by Alex LaFountain off of an assist by Noah Thompson put the Moose up 76-75 with 11 seconds left. After a UMFK timeout Kwame Oduro drained a three helping the Bengal's eke out a last victory over the Moose, 78-76.
