MacDowell set to compete for a national championship

AUGUSTA, Maine - Senior golfer Lee MacDowell, who completed his first collegiate season as the leading golfer in the Yankee Small College Conference, will make the trek to Penn State University to participate in the 2015 United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Golf Championship on Monday and Tuesday.

MacDowell (Thorndike, Maine) played four regular season matches for the Moose, winning three of those tournaments and taking second in the fourth. He has posted three rounds in the 70's and his highest score of the fall is an 84. His average of 78 leads Great Bay Community College's Kyle Gagne by a stroke. MacDowell was named YSCC Golfer of the Week on September 16 for his performance in his first tournament.

The two-day tournament takes place on the Penn State Blue Course, a challenging Par 72 course located in down town State College. Play begins Monday morning with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start which will be followed by a 3:30 p.m. skills contest. The final round begins Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.
