Moose take third in first golf match of the season

BANGOR, Maine - The University of Maine at Augusta men's golf team got off to a solid start in the first match of the season, finishing third at the Eastern Maine Community College Invitational at Hermon Meadows Golf Course Saturday afternoon. The tournament included six teams, five of which are also members of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC).  The University of Maine at Presque Isle won with a team score of 304. The Moose combined for a team score of 341, edging out the University of Maine at Machias by two strokes.

Freshman Connor Morey (Deer Isle, Maine) led the Moose in his first collegiate tournament and finished seventh overall with a score of 80 on the day.  Jacob Roddy (Belgrade, Maine) and Drew Moody (Sidney, Maine) also finished in the top ten, both finishing with an 86. Keith Ross (Winthrop, Maine) and Jesse Libby rounded out the five man team for head coach Tristan Starbird, with scores of 89.

The next match for the Moose is the two day Maine State Intercollegiate Championship held next Saturday and Sunday at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course.
