UMA takes second in championship golf match

CONCORD, New Hampshire – Sophomore Jacob Roddy (Belfast, Maine) shot a 78 and finished third overall this afternoon as the University of Maine at Augusta golf team took second place in the Yankee Small College Conference Championships hosted at New Hampshire Technical Institute.  

The host team, NHTI, took first place in the seven team competition, with a combined score of 321. The Lynx also produced the second place individual finisher in Austin Fox, who shot a 72 on the afternoon.  Andrew Slattery of Central Maine Community College took the top spot with a 71.

UMA secured their second place finish with a team score of 341, six strokes ahead of Southern Maine Community College. UMA's Drew Moody also finished in the top five with a score of 82 while fellow Moose Keith Chesley was also in the eighties with an 88. Keith Ross and Tom Needham rounded out the scoring for the Moose with scores of 93 and 94, respectively.

Eastern Maine Community College was awarded the 2012 Yankee Small College Conference Sportsmanship Award.
