Mustangs shocked by Moose

Auburn, ME - Cold shooting, from the floor and the foul line, mixed with significant foul trouble, and a scrappy UMaine Augusta team, and all the makings for a perfect storm were there. The Mustangs could not get out of their own way all night, and with the Moose playing with a championship-effort, CM just could not keep up, falling 78-66.

Emily Strachan (Lewiston, ME) led the Mustangs with 21 points, while Sarah Poli (Benton, ME) recorded a double-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 steals. Safena Te Nana-Williams (Auckland, NZ) recorded a game-high 6 assists.

Madeline Suhr led the Moose with 31 points and 10 rebounds.

Even though the Mustangs forced 35 turnovers, they could not overcome their fouling, which led to 43 free throw attempts by the Moose.

With the loss the Mustangs fall to 8-1 on the year and 4-1 in the Yankee Conference. They will be back in action this weekend, with a double-header on the road. They play at Bryant & Stratton - Albany on Saturday (3pm), and at CCRI in Warwick, RI on Sunday (1pm).
