Lady Moose Sign Coro

Lady Moose Sign Coro

AUGUSTA, ME—The University of Maine at Augusta women’s basketball team has signed Kori Coro from Forest Hills High School. Kori is a lethal three-point shooter that will look to provide yet another advantage to the Lady Moose. Coro has the experience and leadership skills to make an impact right off the bat for the team.

“I chose to go to UMA because it has the program I want to study for a career, a great basketball program, close to home, and it is affordable." Coro says on her decision to sign with UMA.

Kori Coro has had an excellent high school basketball career, including a run to the state championship this year. In the quarterfinals she tallied five three-pointers for Forest Hills. In the semifinals Coro brought the “clutch” factor, nailing a buzzer beater three pointer to win the game. In the tournament run Kori shot 11-19 from three, which earned her the Most Valuable Player award.

“We are so excited to welcome Kori to our basketball family here at UMA,” Head Coach Jennifer Laney said on the addition.  “She has great energy and a pure excitement for the game.  She will bring a high intensity to our team as well as a deep shooting range.”

Basketball is not the only strong suit for Kori Coro; she also excels off the court as an Honor Roll student and golfer. Coro was named the East-West Golf Schoolgirl Individual Champion, Female Athlete of the Year, Patricia Gallagher Award Winner, and was selected for the McDonalds All-Star Team.

“I am most looking forward to playing for UMA and becoming a Lady Moose." Coro remarked on the opportunity. The Lady Moose program is gearing up for the 2014-2015 season and is going to be a formidable opponent in the Yankee Small College Conference.
