VASSALBORO, ME--- UMA Athletics successfully hosted the sixth annual golf tournament at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro, Maine on May 19th.  Natanis has been a spectacular host for our tournament and a great home course to our golf team to practice.  Since it’s inception in 2009, the tournament has generated over $20,000 for UMA Athletics.  This success is largely due to Lon Walters, owner of Woodlands Senior Living.  He has sponsored our tournament every year of its existence.

We would like to thank our many sponsors in this year’s tournament.  Mid Maine Generator (Kaplan Electric) and Fair Haven Camps both sponsored a hole during the tournament.  Charlie’s Family Dealership provided the hole-in-one prize.  Lunch for the tournament was sponsored by TJ Maxx, who also provided 7 volunteers during our event.  The support of all of our sponsors makes the UMA Athletics Tournament a success.

Participating teams get to play 18 holes on the beautiful Tomahawk course at Natanis, and they play for a variety of prizes donated by supporters of the tournament.  This year, prizes were awarded to winners of the putting contest, longest drive, closest to the pin, numerous raffles, and capped off by the opportunity to win a new 2014 Jeep Patriot from Charlie’s Family Dealership by hitting a hole-in-one.  

The UMA Athletic Department is currently planning the seventh annual golf tournament on June 22, 2015.
