Two Student-Athletes Recognized as Rising Scholars

AUGUSTA, ME--Nick Bragg and Caitlin LaFountain were recognized on Friday, September 16th as Rising Scholars at UMA’s Convocation for both academic achievement and promise.  This year’s academic theme for UMA is Climate Change.  Bragg, a dual sport athlete at UMA, playing both golf and men’s basketball enters his senior year at UMA majoring in Applied Science.  LaFountain is a standout on the women’s basketball team and has just begun her sophomore year at UMA, majoring in Liberal Studies.  The United States Collegiate Athletic Association honored both Bragg and LaFountain as Academic All-Americans for their academic performances last year.

Bragg and LaFountain join current student athletes: Carmen Bragg, Patrick Caskin, and Jamie Plummer, who were recognized at last years ceremony as well as Moose alumni Alyssa Betts, Keith Chesley, Erica Fredrick-Rock, Katelynn Gayne, and Brandon Rogers.
