Soucy commits to play for the Moose

AUGUSTA, Maine – Bri Soucy has given her commitment to play basketball for the University of Maine at Augusta women’s basketball team.  A 2014 graduate from Lawrence High School, Soucy will be majoring in Liberal Studies here at UMA.

The coaching staff at UMA began recruiting Soucy after seeing the defensive fire she had on the court playing for Lawrence.  “Her intensity and quickness immediately caught our eye,” Head Coach Jennifer Laney reflected.  “It is apparent that she is extremely passionate about basketball and has an incredible attention to detail.  We are thrilled to have her join our Moose Basketball family.”

Soucy will be a great fit with the Moose as she is an incredibly versatile player and will merge with a strong returning core from the 2015-16 team.

In high school, Soucy made the varsity basketball team as a freshman and started for all four years of her career. The Honor Roll student was also awarded all-defensive player as a senior.  The basketball court was a place of security for Soucy. It was there that she was able to grow as a player and a leader.  Her senior year was capped off with winning the KVAC championship.

“My experience with the team and coaches so far has been nothing but pleasurable and it’s amazing to have people who are so welcoming. It definitely makes the transition a lot easier,” noted Soucy. “I’m extremely excited to be able to play again and create new memories with a new team.”
