Seawolves Slip Past Moose

AUGUSTA, ME—  It was a tale of two halves for the University of Maine at Augusta men’s basketball team.  The Moose came out firing in the first half against YSCC conference opponent Southern Maine Community College shooting 62%, lead by junior co-captain Brandon Rogers (Turlock, CA) who finished the half with 19 points and seven boards.  Freshman Taylor Wilbur (Manchester, ME) also had the hot hand shooting 4-6 overall and 6-6 from the line boosting the Moose with 14 points.   Junior co-captain Keith Chesley was 4-7 in the first half pitching in eight points.  The Moose lead 48-33 at the half.

The Moose came out second half with a great intensity but could not connect with the basket.  The Moose shot just 25% and allowed the Seawolves 56 second half points.  SMCC went on to win 89-76.

Rogers finished with 31 points and 12 rebounds.  Wilbur had 16 points and three assists.  Chesley pitched in 15 points and eight boards.  Freshman Jordan Carson (Sidney, ME) and senior Garrett Alley (Union, ME) both had six points for the Moose.

After a short break the Moose are back in action on Tuesday night at Unity College.  The men play at 7:30.  GO MOOSE!
