NHTI Holiday Inn New Year's Classic

CONCORD, NH –The UMA women’s basketball team traveled to the NHTI Holiday Inn New Year's Classic Saturday where they faced off against Berkeley NYC to open tournament weekend.

The Moose started out strong with their inside game, sparked by co-captain, Jamie Plummer.  Berkeley pushed back, challenging the Moose with their speed and agility inside the arc.  The first half was a back and forth until with a three at the buzzer by Plummer to send the Moose into halftime with a 4 point lead.

The Knights came out in the second half with a fire.  The Moose could not connect and continued their ice cold shooting throughout most of the second half.  Berkeley used their inside out game to pull away from the Moose.  The Knights went on to win; 58-46.

Plummer netted a game high 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Courtney Dunton and Lindsey Clark added 9 and 7 points, respectively.

On Sunday the Lady Moose took on Massasoit Community College (6-4) to close the tournament out.

The Moose opened the game with a 5-0 run with a jumper coming from Morgan Card and 3 points from Jamie Plummer after connecting in the paint, drawing the foul, and taking advantage of the extra point from the line. The Moose closed out the first quarter leading 14-9 and would continue to control the game and stretch their lead going into the half 38-19.

The Warriors Tati Dias opened the 3rd quarter with a quick 4 points leading to a 9-0 run by the Warriors. Caitlin LaFountain responded offensively netting 15 points in the third quarter alone and keeping the Moose in control with a 20-point lead going into the fourth.
