Moose trample Terriers, 64-49

WATERVILLE, ME – The UMA women’s basketball team traveled to Thomas College to face the DIII Terriers who stood at 4-3 going into the competition.  After controlling the play for most of the game the Moose walked away with a win that pushes them over .500 to 6-5 (3-2 YSCC).

After the first few minutes of scoreless play the Moose started firing on offense going on a 6-0 run before the Terriers responded with a 3 pointer from Sammie Griffin. Jamie Plummer contributed 11 points in the first quarter that ended with a 3-pt jump shot from Bri Soucy putting the Moose up 21-16.

The second quarter is where the Moose started to roll building on their lead with two back to back treys from Carmen Bragg and a layup from Caitlin LaFountain putting the Moose up 38-24 at the half.

The Moose came out of the locker room looking to capitalize on their first half of play. Within the first 12 seconds Caitlin LaFountain made her layup starting a 9-2 run for the Moose.

At the beginning of the 4th quarter the Moose extended their lead to the greatest margin of the night to 56-30 with a layup from Carmen Bragg. The Terriers did start to see some production on offense but the Moose controlled the pace of the game in the fourth quarter making overcoming the 26 pt. lead unsurmountable for the Terriers.

Plummer scored a game-high 25 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists, with 4 steals.  Carmen Bragg finished with 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Both Caitlin LaFountain and Morgan Card netted 11 points each.

The Moose will host Unity College on December 8th at the Augusta Civic Center at 6:00PM.
