AUBURN, ME—The UMA women’s basketball team jump started the 2016-17 season with a mighty conference win against the Vermont Tech Knights on Saturday, November 5th on a neutral court.  The Moose broke out to an early lead in the first quarter and their defensive strength allowed them to hold the Knights to five points in the first half.  The Knights brought their intensity out of the locker room for the second half, but the Moose had an answer.  After four quarters, the Moose took a 71-27 victory and advanced to 1-0 on the season. 

Two players for the Moose finished with a double-double.  Caitlin LaFountain began her sophomore season with 20 points and 13 rebounds; hitting 3-5 from beyond the arc.  Senior captain, Jamie Plummer, netted 17 points and 12 rebounds (6 offensive).  Lindsey Clark added in 11 points and 7 rebounds. 

Juniors Morgan Card and Carmen Bragg showcased their pristine passing skills; both adding 5 assists to the game.  Freshman Halee Flewelling, Courtney Dunton, and Kate Stevens all added 4 points, while Hunter Chesley pulled in 2 rebounds.

Doireanne Chesbrough was the high scorer for Vermont Tech scoring 8 points; 6 of those points coming from the foul line.  Vermont Tech is now 1-1 on the season.

The Moose continue their conference action on Tuesday, November 8th when they travel to Portsmouth, NH to take on Great Bay.
