Moose fall to Mustangs

AUGUSTA, ME-- The UMA women’s basketball team kicked off their home season opener on November 10th, 2016 against the Mustangs of Central Maine Community College.  Both teams entered the game undefeated for what looked to be a very strong YSCC match up.  It was the Moose who came out early building a 5 point lead against the Mustangs after the first quarter.  However, the Mustang’s pressure allowed a quick run in the second to take the lead.  After a back and forth for twenty minutes of regulation, the teams went in tied at the half.

The Mustangs came out with a fire in the third and capitalized on turnovers and quickly took a lead that they would bring up to 20 before the Moose went on one last run brining the game back to 11.  The Mustangs would go on to win 62-51 and take the first of two conference games between the two teams.

Caitlin LaFountain led the charge in the scoring department for the Moose netting 22 points with co-captain, Jamie Plummer knocking down 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Tianna Harriman led the Mustangs with 18 points connecting for 6 3’s from beyond the arc.

The Moose continue to 2-1 on the season and will take on University of Maine at Machias on Tuesday, November 15th at the Augusta Civic Center.
