Moose fall against Knights

AUBURN, ME-- The UMA men’s basketball team began their regular season against the Vermont Tech Knights in Auburn, ME on Saturday, November 5th.  The Moose were on fire right out of the gate; going on a 10-0 run to start the game.  The Knights answered back with a run of their own bringing it to a one-possession game throughout the entire first half.  A back and forth first half landed both teams at 27 after twenty minutes.

Coming out of the locker room from halftime, it was the Knights that commanded the court.  A two handed slam from Dustin Simpson-Bragg shifted the momentum for UMA, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough for the Moose.  The Knights were able to capitalize on their lead and would go on to defeat the Moose 71-56.

Simpson- Bragg brought in his first collegiate double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.  Junior Jordon Holmes netted 16 points and 4 steals.  Sophomore captain, Noah Thompson, finished with 14 points and was perfect from the charity stripe.  Co-Captain Dustin West pitched in 5 points and 4 rebounds while Freshman Alex LaFountain pulled down 10 rebounds.

Vermont Tech had two players earn double-doubles; Dietric Grand with 21 points and 20 rebounds and Cameron Carter with 22 points and 14 rebounds.

Up next for the Moose is Great Bay Community College on Tuesday, November 8th.  The game will be played at Great Bay in Portsmouth, NH.
