WATERVILLE, ME-- The UMA women’s basketball team earned themselves a big win over NCAA Division III opponent Thomas College on Wednesday night.  Three Moose players were in double digits and co-captain Jamie Plummer (Richmond, ME) worked her way to a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.  After a slow start in the first ten minutes of play, the Lady Moose found their groove with a 10-0 run.  They took the lead against Thomas and never looked back.

Sharp shooting around the perimeter helped seal the deal for the Lady Moose with Freshman Carmen Bragg (Washburn, ME) taking the lead beyond the arc.  Bragg finished with three 3-points, one long range two, and a few solid buckets in the paint giving her 16 points.  Senior and co-captain Jessica St. Amand (Windsor, ME) also attacked the rim and showcased her long range capabilities adding 17 points, five boards, and four assists.

Freshman Kori Coro (Jackman, ME) and Kylie Kemp (Monmouth, ME) brought a defensive intensity to the Moose that helped force Thomas to 24 turnovers.  Coro finished with six points and four steals while Kemp had seven points and seven rebounds.  Senior Erica Fredrick-Rock (Augusta, ME) also pitched in one point and a rebound.

Although out rebounded by two, the Moose’s presence on the boards was a big key to their success.

The Moose travel to Albany, NY this weekend to take on Briarcliff College in Saturday, November 22nd as part of Albany College of Pharmacy’s tournament.  GO MOOSE!
